Kempten in the region of Allgäu

Kempten is less than one hour by car from the Steigenberger Hotel Der Sonnenhof. You can also travel to Kempten by train from Bad Wörishofen and with a good connection the trip will take one hour.

Largest city in the Allgäu region

With 65,000 inhabitants Kempten is the largest city in the Allgäu and can look back on a history of 2,000 years. It is regarded as one of the oldest cities in Germany in which the face of the city has been shaped for centuries by the side by side course of the former imperial city and the princely abbey. On a walk through the old city there is scarcely an architectural style which cannot be found. Basically it can be said that the old city centre is characterized mainly by the gothic while the monastery part has developed from the baroque.
